About the Charityinfo1

The Community Minibus Association (West Sussex) is a registered charity for the community, run entirely by unpaid volunteers. The charity has been helping people get out and about in rural West Sussex for more than 40 years.

Minibuses take people from their homes to shopping centres, lunch clubs, seaside locations, and organised social events, as well as special excursions.

Regular trips can help you to get out of the house for a while, to see the countryside, to converse with old friends and to make new ones.

All age groups across all the communities in the region are welcome.

The registered Charity number is 275787

The Community Network

From its beginnings, the charity has grown to a fleet of 13 Minibuses organised around villages in West Sussex; Ashington, Billingshurst, Five Villages (south of A27), Petworth, Pulborough, Steyning, Storrington and Wisborough Green.

There are regular trips to local shopping centres and to major towns such as Chichester, Horsham. Also a variety of other excursions including Arundel and Worthing. Lunch club trips, and Vintage teas, in various villages are very popular.

The charity is always ready to adjust it’s boundaries and the destinations to meet customer needs and to extend support to new communities.

Relationships with compatible organisations and charities are progressively developing, to offer a diversity of service particularly for the increasing aged population and also for the West Sussex community as a whole. Sponsorship packages are available for organisations interested in clearly demonstrating their relationship with a local community charity.

Whether you are a Passenger or Volunteer, West Sussex Minibus is a great way to make friends and get out into the beautiful West Sussex countryside.

Passengers

A door to door service is provided to Members, both on regular shopping trips and special outings.  Returning passengers safely to their homes, and assistance (if required) with carrying of shopping, is all part of the service.

Many Members regard the service as an opportunity to get out, meet old friends and make new ones.

You can be a Member simply by living in one of the villages served by the charity, and paying a small annual membership fee. Individual trips are charged according to duration / destination.

New Members are always welcome, both long time residents of West Sussex and new arrivals. Membership is also open to any organised group which is interested in making use of the minibuses.

Volunteers

The charity relies entirely on Volunteers to manage and operate the service – Drivers, Passenger Escorts, Booking staff, Fleet managers, Divisional organisers, and others who co-ordinate the day to day running..

The charity is run by a group of Trustees who sit on the Executive Committee – all Volunteers.

New Volunteers are always welcome, either those with particular skills or experience, or those simply wishing to contribute to their local community.  You can give as much time as you wish, on a regular basis or in support of special projects.
