Chairman's message as he steps up 01/12/2018
A message from our new Chairman Bill Hughes:
I am delighted to join the Community Minibus Association to offer my services in moving people around West Sussex, just as the volunteers of The Association have been helping people for more than 40 years.
For those of you who have not met me yet (and that’s probably everyone) I took over the chair of the Association from Alistair, at the end of November 2018. I retired five or six years ago after a long career in retailing, warehousing and distribution. I joined Marks and Spencer back in the seventies, moved on to The Early Learning Centre for five years, and then spent the last 15 years in The Body Shop, in Littlehampton. The Body Shop was by far the most interesting, and I had the luck to work for Anita Roddick for five or six years.
Since I retired I have spent some time looking for something to do that gets me out, makes me meet new people and, last but not least, lets me give something back to the community. I can remember Anita often encouraging people (including me) to give something back into the place they live. I believe The Association will give me all that and a lot more besides, and I hope that I am able to offer as much as the volunteers already give.
From your outgoing chairman:
After 6 wonderful years with this very special charity, I have now stepped aside as the Chair of Trustees. My thanks to all the Volunteers, past and present, who give so much time, energy and enthusiasm to all they do. May you all continue to support the Minibus with the same commitment and dedication that you have in the past.
My Best Wishes to you All.
